Industrial floor coating

Industrial floor coating protects floors that are heavily used every day. Think of concrete floors in workshops, warehouses, production halls and technical rooms. The strong epoxy finish helps protect the substrate against wear, dirt, oil and various liquids.

The coating consists of two components: epoxy resin and a hardener. Once mixed, they form a hard, wear-resistant layer that bonds firmly to a properly prepared floor.

An epoxy coating is thinner than a self-levelling floor and is applied with a roller. It therefore follows the existing contours of the substrate. Cracks, holes and unevenness must be repaired beforehand for a flawless result.

Which substrate is suitable for industrial floor coating?

Why use a primer under industrial floor coating?

How do you apply industrial floor coating?

Degrease the floor thoroughly, let it dry and sand down smooth substrates. Then remove all dust.

Apply primer and coating

Where necessary, first apply a suitable epoxy primer. Allow it to dry in line with the product instructions.

Then mix components A and B thoroughly into a uniform mixture. Do not mix more material than you can use within the pot life.

Spread the coating evenly using a suitable 2K roller. Use a brush for edges and corners.

What is the drying time of industrial floor coating?

Drying time depends on the temperature, humidity, ventilation and layer thickness. According to the product information from Ecoatingstore, the industrial epoxy coating can be walked on after approximately ten hours.

At that point the floor is not yet fully loadable. For full curing and maximum mechanical and chemical resistance, allow around seven days.

So do not put machines, vehicles, racking and heavy materials back too soon.

Maintenance and service life of industrial floor coating

An industrial coated floor requires little day-to-day maintenance. Remove loose dirt regularly and mop the floor with water and a mild cleaning agent.

Clear up oil, grease and chemicals as quickly as possible. Avoid aggressive and abrasive cleaning products that could damage the finish.

What is the difference between PU and epoxy?

The difference between PU (polyurethane) and epoxy coatings mainly lies in their physical properties and applications:
